Satisfied Customer November 28, 2008 Vladimir A. Titov (Sacramento, Ca USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was my second time purchasing a Toshiba laptop. Once again, I am very satisfied with the product. Setting up the laptop was very quick and simple without any problems. From the time that I set it up, there have been no problems-- even when I open up a multiple amount of windows at the same time. I am able to be online, download pictures, and listen to music all at the same time without experiencing any problems. Although the battery sticks out a little, it is fine because the battery life is good. Windows Vista does at great job, i'm guessing, because this laptop was designed for this OP. I bought the first Toshiba laptop for my oldest daughter, I bought this laptop for my second daughter, and next year when I will have to buy a laptop for my younger daughter, there is no doubt in my mind that I will purchase a Toshiba laptop. This laptop uses Norton 360 virus protection, which does a really good job. It does not slow down the computer at all.
4 1/2 Stars - Great Buy November 26, 2008 Y. Levin (Brookyn, NY) I've had this laptop for about 3 months and I love it. It's generally fast, has good features, is light and slick looking. It's not too heavy to carry around and comes with an extended battery. The keyboard also has an especially cool feel. Really! I know that sounds silly, but it makes all the difference. I'm so spoiled by the feel of my laptop keyboard that I don't like typing on standard keyboards anymore. I'd like to take off half a star because I think the touch-pad mouse gets too hot on occasion, and the battery lost some of it's battery life. (It's still got 4 1/2 hours, though.) It's definitely worth buying!
So fa r so good November 24, 2008 H. ZHANG (Chanlder,AZ, UAS) I think this Laptop is great. The speed is fast even I have installed some development tools. The battery can last about three hours.
The best in it's category November 8, 2008 Guilherme C. C. Ramos 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The machine is great. The only thing I miss is the fingerprint reader. The sound is nice for a notebook. It's thin and light for it's class, and definitely a very good looking machine. The battery is supperb, nearly 5,5 hours with wi-fi on, and heavy Internet browsing. It's extremely quiet, and don't get too warm. The radio tuner is excellent, very nice to have it. I can also record from a stereo line in (nice feature), it's the same input as the microphone, but you can set it up through software (great for transfer LP's to MP3). Keyboard is very smooth and responsive, very confortable to type. Don't forget it's got Bluetooth too. I'm very happy with it. Would buy it again.
U405-S2830 13`` - A thousand dollars for a garbage November 5, 2008 S. Mani 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have the U405-S2830, which I dont know why they are not selling this model anymore, bec. it is pretty new model, I wonder if there is something wrong with the model. Apart from this, it is 3 GB RAM and 250 GB, I can not understand how slow can it be, when the ones with less ram and hard drive are faster. it has the Intel Core T8100. So you pay thousand dollars for piece of s. and I believe I did the worst decision of my life with buying this. they say it is the Vista but I tried other models with vista and it is much more slower. You just need to open 2 windows to have `not responding!!!` answer and you wait and wait and wait.... and don't even try to select some of the the songs you have (and it is even enough even 10).. you just select and wait for many minutes so windows player relizes it and starts to play, and hopefully without `not responding` answer. As you can see I am not even talking about complex computer using, these are just the basic moves, which a 10 year old even can do (or can not with Toshiba) So I decided to have one more year to go with this junk and I already started to save money for an Apple next time.
