Excellent features for EXTREMELY low price! September 1, 2010 J. Benhart This laptop was for my wife's birthday. She loves it! You will not find a laptop with an I5, 4 gb's of ram, and a 500 gb hard drive. Trust me, I looked. Newegg, Meritline, Fry's, EVERYwhere... Good size, good weight, good battery life. And again, for 680 shipped?! YEAH, good deal! Also, shipping for it was fast and accurate. Got here within a week or two. Shipped in a massive box with lots of plastic balloon protection things. Perfect!
First Things First August 23, 2010 Mike Leavitt (GLENDALE, AZ, US) Well the first thing I did when I got this Acer Laptop was to pop a cd-rom into the drive, wiped Windows and installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. Once this was done the system that got "so-so" reviews has become my favorite laptop ever. This has proven to be the best system I have ever owned. The quad core processor is lightning fast and the Ubuntu OS makes everything run perfectly. I love the cool blue color and never hear the cooling fans chugging away to keep things under control. I've read some complaints about the flat keyboard, hmmm... I've been typing this review and just about every line of code for my site with this keyboard and am having no problems at all.
Acer is a good company August 13, 2010 M. Heck (San Antonio, TX) I'm very please with this computer. My only complaint is that the description did not mention the fact that you need Windows 7 Professional to run in XP mode and this computer came with Windows 7 Premium version. I had to by the Professional upgrade. Had I known this in advance, I would have looked for a computer with Professional already installed.
This is not a fault of the computer or the seller. It is merely an oversight in advertising. XP mode would not be something everyone would want.
Disapointed August 1, 2010 Ginger (Pattersonville, NY USA) I did alot of research & asking people about the different brands & what they had. I really wanted an ACER as I understood them to be great. I haven't had mine 2 months yet & its already packed up ready to go in for repair..and I have to pay the S&H....I am not happy...
I've had to reset my clock on it almost a half dozen times already. I am writing this from my desktop..Thank goodness I still have this...
My next one will be purchased locally so that I can deliver it for repair personally if necessary & not have to pay for S&H on top of the purchase price I am still paying for.
Also, in the description, the battery life is up to 3hrs & 30 min. I don't get even close to that.
Now it is Labor day weekend & it kept going offline. I spent over 2 days online with ACER & Windows support to get back online...after doing what all the techs told me to do, the touchpad needed to be tweaked and ACER techs would not help me under my warranty, they wanted to pass me through to different techs for a FEE...so after I hung u,p I went on the ACER website & put in my problem. I fixed it myself because the techs were inadequite to help me themselves. I just don't get the customer service. They were not even curteous.
Probably defective July 5, 2010 Lance A. Hobday (Little Rock, AR USA) I bought this laptop for my son, and he loved the look of it, and the size of monitor when he first got it. But it continually crashed on him and just never worked right. It would be fine for an hour and then blue screen, or it would run for 10 minutes and then blue screen. So I'm not sure what was wrong with it. I hate to put a bad name on "Acer" laptops because I've heard they are good. I believe this one just had a defect in it somewhere.
After trying several things with it for a couple of weeks I was finally forced to return it.
