Great PC at a Great Price. But look around first!!!! October 30, 2008 G. Saborio (Miami, FL) I was a little skeptical at first. But this Compaq was a great buy, at around 550 dollars; it has everything a person needs in a PC. 2 GB Ram, a big hard drive, well you can just see the item description. It's exactly as they mention it. It runs very smoothly, and has great wi-fi connectivity. I am very happy with this purchase. Though I'm giving a great review on this product, a lot of other computers are coming out around this price, so look around before you purchase this one. You might find an even better PC under 600 dollars.
Review of Compaq service September 19, 2008 Yvonne 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is not a review of this specific model but of Compaq service. I purchased a Presario F762NR four months ago. The screen has now failed. I returned it to Compaq for repair and they refuse to honor the warranty unless I buy an additional warranty. The cost to replace the screen is $2 less than what I paid for the laptop. I have owned many Compaq products in the past and currently have 4 in the house. Compaq service used to be excellent; things have changed. I will no longer purchase any Compaq product and recommend that you consider the risks involved.
Entry-level components, but good for experienced-users on a budget August 31, 2008 L. E. Lockhart (Richland Center, WI USA) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I ordered this laptop because my family needed an extra computer, and as I'm the closest thing to a power-user we have, I gave my own computer to my mother and purchased this machine. While the system is only a small step up from what I had before, it certainly does everything that the information on Amazon promises - which is not a lot, given how sparse the details are. The computer runs Vista without any problems; I haven't yet tried reconfiguring it for Linux, but I'm guessing everything other than the dial-up modem will work fine. The Aero interface runs smoothly, even on the integrated Intel graphics chipset (which is not officially supported by most newer games, but which can be configured to run just fine with a lot of them.) The only real complaint I have is something that's going to happen with any preconfigured Windows system, which is the crapware that comes preinstalled. Without access to a program like PC Decrapifier (which you can get for free with a Google search), it'll take a few hours to clear the crap off of the computer.
