 Great Laptop November 21, 2008
Not a Newbie (USA)
Bought this computer 3 months ago because I wanted XP Pro instead of Vista. It handles everything quickly, including Photoshop files. I did upgrade the ram from 1 MB to 3 MB and now see very little difference between the Toshiba and my powerful desktop.

If you're reading this review right now, then chances are you want to make sure you are making the right choice.
Let me assure you, if you're planning on purchasing a Toshiba laptop, you are not.
Please, google "toshiba laptop complaints" and get the REAL reviews.
As for my input...
this is a conversation that took place in an authorized toshiba shipping store:
me: "Man, let me tell you something... NEVER buy a Toshiba laptop."
clerk: "With the ammount of them that we ship back every month, I never would."
..just in case you were wondering how many laptops this authorized postal service receives from customer and ships out for repair every month - "..about 30" is the answer that I got

This is a pretty powerful computer, but be aware that it doesn't come with Mircosoft Office. It only has a trial version installed.

The Toshiba is a very solid fast laptop. I needed it for various business travel. Previously, I had a HP dv 2000 which was a total waste of money and broke down after one year. So- I certaintly did a fair amount of research when it came to purchasing a new laptop. The screen is amazing and so is the sound quality.
The seller Beach Camera listed the price as $732.00 one day and $698.00 the following day. Beach Camera or Amazon would not give back the difference.
Also-it states it is 15.4 screen. It is a 17 inch screen. It is very difficult to find a laptop travel case that fits this large thick computer.
