1 out of 5 stars Stay away from 3310 and AIO printers   December 27, 2008
SamShanti
I usually like HP products but not this one. I purchased the 3310 new, used it 6 months and it stopped scanning and copying. HP immediately replaced it which was not what I wanted. I preferred having mine fixed. Instead, they sent me a refurbished 3310. Soon afterwards, I had various problems with the refurbished replacement but it kept working for about 9 months. It now won't scan anything and to make multiple copies, I need to power down and power up the machine before making multiple copies. It won't print photos anymore. The only thing it does is print from my computer. I called HP service who told me I am out of warranty. Their answer was for me to trade this one in on the purchase of a refurbished, newer AIO model. No thanks. I will only purchase separate printing components from now on. No more AIO printers for me. Had to admit I was disappointed in HP's service for their AIO line. They are no longer the HP company I've purchased from for years.

2 out of 5 stars Worked well for only 5 months   October 19, 2008

This printer only worked well enough for 5 months and than got a paper jam message. I cleared the paper jam and it still says, it still has a paper jam. I checked HP tech support and nothing was useful to help me resolve this problem.

2 out of 5 stars Known Issue   September 7, 2008
MikeC (Brooklyn, NY USA)
I bought this printer for my small business, and it has done a good for everything from photo printing to invitations. I have noticed a slight problem with some copies, though. For large, full glass copies, there was a noticeable "bump" in the end product. It looked as if someone had bumped the printer, sometime during the scan. There have also been times when color printing has been very fast, but others, particularly when I had to print multiple color pages, one page printed quickly, but other pages would take so long, I'd walk away and come back and the print job still wasn't done. I have varied the order of the pages, and this has not helped. All in all, though, I still would rate this printer somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. Recently, though, when trying to replace an empty cartridge, the printer locked open, and the access door would not close. I entered into a live chat with an HP rep. To summarize my experience, I followed all the directions of the rep - a number of times. It didn't fix the problem. The rep then told me that it was a hardware failure, and started a sales pitch for me to buy a new machine. I mentioned a number of times that I found this to be a known issue, as documented on the web, and asked if HP offered any recall because of this issue. He just kept on with the pitch. Since my printer is a large part of my business, I told him my requirements, and he told me that I could get a similar printer from HP at a reduced price. The frustrating thing is that his "much reduced price", to quote him, is the SAME price that is on the HP website. I know things fail, and I don't expect perfection from a printer. But I DO expect integrity from HP and their reps. I felt as if the guy was just trying to make a sale and not listen to my issue. Customer service is part of every purchase. So is addressing a client's needs. But lying and attempting to deceive clients is reprehensible. The added frustration reduces my recommendation and my stars to 2.

4 out of 5 stars This is our 2nd 3310...   August 14, 2008
Charlotte J. Kerns (Annapolis, MD)
My husband and I are now on our 2nd HP PSC 3310. Our original one developed an "ink failure" error message caused we think by a power surge during a power failure about a month ago. While we realised that the 3310 is no longer made, we liked it so much we Googled HP PSC 3310 and, to our surprise, came up with a supplier of new machines, www.pcrush.com .
We have been for the most part very pleased with the 3310. We especially like the large display which also does double duty as a caller ID.
The pictures that the machine prints are done quickly and with a very good result. My husband does a lot of label and envelope printing and is pleased with the quality and speed of the jobs. We have done much scanning of documents and photos with good results. One thing we would have appreciated with the software would be a way to designate which e-mail client to send pictures or documents with. The Outlook Express and Outlook options are the only ones available. It would have been nice to have another option since we use another e-mail client. We have, however, discovered a workaround to that.
The ink cartridges are a breeze to change. When we had an HP PSC 2410 the cartridges were very difficult to change, so the 3310 is a breath of fresh air.
The copies are crisp and quickly done. One drawback is that the paper tray doesn't hold much paper.
The faxing capability is excellent and quite convenient.
While the 3310 came with an install CD, I went to the HP website and downloaded the most recent version which made for an easy install.
All in all, I think the 3310 is quite good and would recommend it if one can find it. I only regret that it is no longer made.

1 out of 5 stars Worst HP Printer Ever   July 30, 2008
Donald E. H. Ratcliff (Las Vegas, NV United States)
I have had this printer for over a year now. It makes great prints if you can actually get it to print.

If you do any printing besides 81/2 x 11" it takes a small amount of coding each time to program it to work.

Also I now can't get it to realize I have a full blue cartridge in it.

I have owned quite a few HP printers over the years and they all have worked pretty well. This one blows. Stay away.
