Amazon.com Product Description The LaserJet 1300 from HP is a monochrome laser printer that offers high-quality output, fast print time, and expandability options. With a resolution as high as 1,200 dpi, prints are crisp and accurate, while speeds of up to 20 ppm (8 seconds for the first page out) mean you won't have to wait long for print jobs to finish. A 250-page standard input tray can be supplemented with an optional tray for a total of 510 pages, while the 16 MB standard memory can be boosted up to 80 MB. The 133 Hz internal processor is capable of handling large print jobs, while the 10,000-page per month maximum duty cycle provides reliability even in heavy-use environments. The 1300 comes with standard USB and parallel port interfaces, and optional HP Jetdirect print servers allow you to add the printer to a network and print from multiple computers. A wide variety of paper types and sizes are supported, including paper (plain, recycled), cardstock, envelopes, labels, transparencies, letter, legal, executive, and more. Energy Star compliant, the 1300's 110 to 127V (+- 10%), 50/60 Hz power supply consumes about 285 watts during normal operation or about 7 watts during standby. PC, Mac, and Linux compatible, the 1300 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty on both parts and labor. LaserJet 1300 - 5 star workhorse August 2, 2008 d.v.v. (Roswell GA USA) I've had a LaserJet 1300 for about 5 years. All it does is work and work and work. It's the go-to printer for this family of five with 4 desktops, 2 laptops and a home office. I bought a little NetGear PS101 print server that plugs into the 1300's parallel port and voila! it's a shared network printer with its own IP address. The 13X high-capacity cartridge lasts us about a year, so no complaints there! Obviously it's not a photo printer, but 99% of the time all we need is B/W printing. It has never choked for lack of memory. And it's "off" until it needs to print, then 1st page start-up is maybe 5 sec. A very excellent machine.
Buyer Beware June 13, 2008 Carl Campbell (USA) I provide desktop support for a medium sized company. Accounting bought several of these Cheap Pieces of XXXX. Make sure to follow the directions multiple times exactly as the instructions say. Because if you skip a step or plug in the printer at the wrong time HP printers run the risk of damaging the print spooler and possibly force you to reload your operating system. If you switch computers between cubicles and have 2 of these printers you have to move the printers also, because although they will both be the same model printers they wont work. If you are replacing one of these because you already had one installed that broke, the new one wont work. If the 1300 print driver was ever installed on the computer that you are trying to install this printer, It will not work until you point the ad remove printer wizard to the windows driver inf directory. then it will only run for a few days until it spits out nothing but garbage. I absolutely hate these printers and the most satisfying day at work was when I bashed one with an 8lb sledge hammer. I have the pictures to prove it. HP really dropped the ball on this piece of junk.
Pages come out greyish April 8, 2008 Antonio (Canada) Pages keep printing with greyish ink spots. Same thing with several HP cartridges. This started after about 1 year of OK use. Not very happy about this product.
Problem with Fuser Film (Fixiereinheit) - otherwise fine March 1, 2007 Skymaster This really seems to be an inherent problem. I have two LJ 1300s in business use. One is still fine, on the other the fuser film has ripped after around 3 years moderate business use (symptoms exactly as described by previous users). Up until then good results, fairly quick and very quiet in standby.

I had a HP laser I bought new in 1992 that lasted 13 years under home use. I bought a 1300n and it has lasted 18 months under very moderate home use. I turned it on one day and CLACK CLACK CLACK , very loud. Sounds like the problem described elsewhere. Service cost is ridiculous. I would expect better from HP. In anycase, I am not happy, and won't buy another HP.
